6,000 euro in prizes for best end of year projects in Tourism

  • Projects should be on a specific theme, such as an analysis of the potential market for tourism in A Coruña 

A Coruña, 19 May 2011 - Vice Mayor and Councillor for Tourism Henrique Tello signed a collaboration agreement today with the Rector of the University, Xosé María Barja, and the Head of the University School of Tourism, Mercedes Carreño, to promote the study of tourism resources in A Coruña.

In order to promote and foster university studies of Tourism related to A Coruña as a destination, three end of year projects will be selected for prizes of 3,000, 2,000 and 1,000 Euros.

Vice Mayor Henrique Tello expressed his satisfaction on signing this agreement and trusts it will encourage students as the winning project will be put into practice.   

Students registered in the last year at the University School of Tourism can enter the competition when they have passed all their subjects. A jury will select the projects.

Projetcs should deal with one of the following subjects:

-           Forms and ways to promote A Coruña as a tourist destination

-           Creation of tourism products related to A Coruña as a tourist destination

-           Analysis of the potential market for tourism in A Coruña

-           Management models for tourism applied to A Coruña

-           Studies on the impact of tourism on the economy of the city

-           Comparative analysis of the tourism market in A Coruña compared to other domestic and international markets

A jury will be set up to assess the projects, made up of the Rector of the UDC, the Chairman of the Tourism Consortium of A Coruña, two lecturers from the School and a representative from the tourism sector of A Coruña, proposed by the Tourism Consortium.
